Carol was a Community College President for 20 years before becoming the Executive Director of AZ Transfer. Known for her ability to build relationships with educators, Board members, legislators, and communities, Dr. Spencer has been successful in facility expansion, legislative communication and challenging budget environments. Her experience spans education, real estate, automotive, industrial as well as technology industries.
Carol earned her PhD from The Ohio State University and her MA and BS are from the University of Nebraska. As an in-demand public speaker and effective consultant, she focuses on academic transfer, leadership development and strategic planning issues. She has written numerous articles throughout her career, which have been published in diverse forums.
Carol currently lives in Phoenix, Arizona with her husband and teenage son. She has seven other adult children who live on their own. At home, Carol enjoys reading, cooking and volunteering at the Desert Botanical Gardens. Watching college sporting events is a pastime she enjoys with her husband, along with gardening and yard work. Her creative nature is expressed by making jewelry and clothing and collecting antique glassware from the late 1800’s to the Great Depression era.
